The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers’ Authority (GSA), Mr. Kwesi Okyere Baffour Sarpong paid his first official visit since his appointment to the Takoradi Branch from Wednesday 10th to Thursday 11th 2024 to familiarize himself with the operations of the Branch.

Mr. Sarpong’s visit did not only provide a platform for him to interact with the staff at the branch, but also enabled him to get a firsthand feel of some of the expectations and needs of shippers in the geographical areas the branch superintends.

He was accompanied by Mrs. Sylvia A. Duada Owu, the Director of Operations at the GSA.

The visiting team was welcomed by the manager of the Takoradi Branch, Mrs. Agnes Asamoah-Duku, who presented an overview of the Branch’s mandate and how they contribute to the achievement of GSA’s strategic goals.

In a brief address, Mr. Sarpong outlined his vision for the organization and underscored the importance of teamwork in the delivery of valuable service to shippers.

During the visit, the CEO interacted with the Executives of the Western Regional Shipper Committee (WRSC) and paid a courtesy call on the Director of the Takoradi Port. He was also taken on a comprehensive tour of the facility, and to other key facilities including the Takoradi Logistics Platform, Shipper Complaints and Support Unit (SCSU) at TACOTEL, the Elubo Freight Park, and the Noe Freight Park in La Cote D’Ivoire.  The tour provided the CEO with valuable insight into the operations of those components of the shipping and logistics sector.

Mrs. Asamoah-Duku also took the opportunity to reassure the CEO of the Branch’s commitment to playing its role in ensuring the realization of the CEO’s vision for the GSA. “You can be rest assured of the full support and cooperation of the Takoradi Branch to implement the new ideas.” she noted.
